How Long Does a Car Battery Last?

Hello there! My name is Carl, and I'm a car battery. Your car battery, in fact. In our trips through Devon and Malvern, I've heard you asking yourself: How long does a car battery last? Lucky for you, I'm here with the answer.

I'm also here to tell you that if you need any help keeping me in good shape, all you need to do is visit my friends at Audi Devon. Now, let me tell you a little bit more about myself. Schedule a service appointment today to get started.

My Job

I'm no egomaniac, but I'm a pretty big deal. Understanding how I work can help you determine whether I need service.

I have two big responsibilities. I provide the jolt of electricity that gets your Audi started. On top of that, I provide the constant electrical current that keeps it running. How do I accomplish this monumental task? Let me tell you. I convert chemical energy into electrical energy through a chemical reaction.

In case you were wondering, I'm a 12-volt battery. Back when I was fresh and fully charged, I gave off 12.6 volts of power or more! However, the day will come when I won't be able to produce more than 11.89 volts. When that happens, I'll no longer have what it takes to properly power your Audi.

How Long Do I Last?

In perfect conditions, car batteries could last for almost six years, but in our world of extreme temperatures, humidity, and varying driving conditions, I'm only expected to last for two to five years. That's why I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Car batteries will exhibit a few signs when we're not feeling too good. If you spot them, you'll know it's time to get me to a service center as soon as possible.

First, you should check my fluid levels. If they're low, it may mean that I'm not going to last much longer. Sometimes a car battery will smell like rotten eggs, my apologies ahead of time. If I happen to stink, there's a good chance I'm overheating. If this happens, you'll want to get your Audi inspected by a mechanic.

When I'm not performing at my best, one of your handy dashboard lights may also alert you to the problem.

My Friends at the Service Center

When you take your vehicle in for battery maintenance at the Audi dealership near you, the experienced service technicians there treat me with the care and respect that I deserve. They'll check my voltage and examine my overall condition.

If there's corrosion or issues with your vehicle's charging system, they have the training needed to properly perform the necessary maintenance. We'll be back on the road in no time! If they realize that I no longer have the charge to power your Audi, they'll replace me with a fresh new battery. It's sure to provide you with the same quality performance that I did.

Getting the maintenance we need is easy, too! They have a rotating list of service specials that you can check out online.

Let Me Keep You Powered Up!

My good buddies over at Audi Devon have years of experience taking care of car batteries in Devon and Malvern that are just like me. After helping you determine how long car batteries last, they can provide us with the proper maintenance. That way, we'll be able to stay together for even longer.
